Dr Ryan Ellul was awarded his warrant and admitted to the bar in Malta in 2018 after successfully completing his studies at the University of Malta. He holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree with honours and a Master of Laws Degree in Advocacy.
His law thesis examined the legal mechanisms of the International Criminal Court, focusing mainly on its internal procedures. Dr Ellul carried his research in London and Holland under the tutorship of Dr Christopher Soler B.A., M.A., LL.M., LL.D., PhD (the current State’s Advocate of the Republic of Malta) and Mr Justice Dr Carmel Agius LL.D.
Dr Ellul is currently reading for a Master’s Degree in International Law, majoring in cross border and transnational crimes. In his Master’s thesis, Dr Ellul seeks to analyse various international treaties and conventions focusing on the elements of high level offences. He is also examining various policy considerations related to the International Criminal Court’s jurisdiction.
Dr Ellul joined Lex Group Legal as a legal trainee in 2016. After being awarded his warrant to practice law before the Maltese Courts and Tribunals, Dr Ellul took on the the role of a practicing lawyer within the firm, assisting diligently both local and international clients. Dr Ellul’s meticulous work has distinguished him and today he is a senior associate at Lex Group Legal.
Dr Ellul specializes in dispute settlement and resolution and is in charge of litigation matters.
He is a member of the Chamber of Advocates, the local Bar Association, as well as a member of the European Criminal Bar Association.
